Christmas break is finally here! I took my last final this morning and I'm just working in Admissions and then I'm off to go home. My first semester at college is over already, and it has been a blast. I have had a lot of fun and met a lot of people that I know I be friends with for probably the rest of my life. It definitely has been the most fun I've had in 4 months' and I'm excited for the rest of my stay here at good ol' TC.
So last weekend we finished dodgeball; my team finished the regular season in 2nd place but ended it losing in the first round, it was very disappointing. You gotta love the under dog though; FGB ended up winning the championship, they had a great season. It was disappointing how it ended but we will be no doubt be ready next year to claim the championship-for sure. Now I'm just looking forward to basketball after the break. I am on a really good team, that has a great chance of claiming the title. The team I'm on is a bunch of older kids, so we will be experienced and I believe this team has won the championship the last three years, so we should be all set.
I am excited for the holiday break as I will get to see all my family and friends, also to celebrate Christmas. I guess I will be going up to Massachusetts for Christmas, that is where all my extended family lives. I hope all you readers have a great holiday and this blog is postponed until after the holiday break. God bless.

Busy Week
This weekend I stayed pretty busy doing school work, since this is the last week of classes before finals. I am trying to get all my work done so that I 'm able to just study during finals week. On Saturday, there was a pre-release of the movie Final Destination in 3-D in our auditorium, so that seemed really cool. I really wanted to see the movie mostly because it was in 3-D; however, myself being the responsible one, I just stayed in and did school work. It should also be a busy week because I just found out my dodgeball team has a game each day this week except Saturday. So I guess that's not that bad, as long as we win :).
Also on Saturday, our boys basketball team beat WPI in a great game. It was probably one of the biggest wins in the boys basketball program's history, because WPI was ranked like 30th in the nation for Division III basketball. So it was a great win for the team. They have another game that should be pretty good against UMF on Wednesday. I am hoping to attend, and hopefully the Terriers leave Farmington with a win.

Christmas is coming
The first week back from vacation is just about over, and it feels like Christmas break is coming way to fast. I have a lot do to next week since it's the last week of classes. So teachers our assigning little more work, and I have a couple tests next week as well. Then the following week we have finals, and then Christmas break! I can't wait until Christmas break knowing finals are over and that Christmas is so close.
Dodgeball started back up this week as we had two games, the first game was against FGB and the second against Blue Lightning. The FGB game was a really good game, we split the first 6 games, this made game 7 the deciding game; however, we were unable to get the win unfortunately. In the Blue Lightning game, we were able to get the win in a 4-1 series. We have two more games next week, and then we have playoff games that start Sunday. The next day is the championship game and hopefully we will be playing in it!
On Wednesday, I was able to see the movie Blind Side because it was free movie night at the theater in Waterville. I believe it's something that Thomas runs and it happens a few times each semester. I was really excited to see the movie after just reading the book in class. The book was extremely good and the movie did not disappoint. It was a great movie and I recommend the movie if you have not see it yet.

Back to School
I am back at school, and it's good to see the Thomas crew again. I came back yesterday unpacked and decided to move my room around. My roommate Zack and I, both think it looks a lot better as we have more room now. Anyways, this vacation was good, as I was able to relax and see family and friends. My mother made a delicious Thanksgiving meal this year, I was stuffed. Though I was able save a little bit of room for a piece of pie. Then I watched football, though their wasn't really any good games on, held off on a nap, then went to play in the Turkey Bowl (it's a mix between football & soccer). It was a close game, but the team I was on pulled out with the win! So that was definitely exciting.
After, I went over to my buddy Russell's house and played the game Risk. I have never played this game before but it seemed pretty fun but it was a long game! It took about two and a half hours until I was out of the game and at that point there was two people left in the game. I didn't really know what I was doing at all, so I pretty much just stayed in South America, and that was not the greatest idea (if you've never played). Now I know though and next time I will be better, for sure.

Thanksgiving Break
On Tuesday it was free bowling night for Thomas students. Thomas rents out the bowling alley right across the street, usually at least every month. It is always a fun time and a lot of people go. There is always good music, and they have black lights by the lanes. Also earlier that day, our team had a dodgeball game against the Mavericks, in which we won! Then on Thursday the school had it's Thanksgiving Gathering and Employee Recognition. There we had the best meal of the year, the food was so good, it made me really excited for Thanksgiving.
Next week we only have school on Monday and Tuesday, then Thanksgiving break!!! I can't wait to go back home and see my family and all my friends that are back on break. On Thanksgiving I usually sleep in and then our family has a Thanksgiving meal in the afternoon. The food is always amazing, and I always feel 10 pounds heavier after. The meal is followed by watching football and the occasional nap! Then at 7:30 I go to the Turkey Bowl, it's a family tradition of one of my best friends, but anyone is welcome. We play it in a parking lot, it's like soccer but has some football mixed into it. It is always a great time.

Three Day Weekend
On Tuesday we lost our dodgeball game, :/ it was bad, we were swept 4-0. We were the better team, but they executed great game plan and beat us pretty good. Tonight we have another game, against Team Charizard. Hopefully we will bounce back with a win. Last Night, I attended Professor Dog Wallace's Last Lecture. It was very interesting as he emphasized about getting out in the world, exploring other countries and seeing different cultures. I do hope someday that I visit another country for an extended period of time, though am sure it will probably a ways down the road.
So because of Veterans Day on Wednesday (we went to school that day) we are having school off on Friday. So that's very exciting, I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow! I am staying here on at Thomas, on this three day weekend and I hope to see one of the two showings on Saturday, in our Auditorium. It's the Pre-Release of the movie GI Joe- the Rise of the Cobra, it's a movie that I had wanted to see. Also, another movie I am hoping to see in theaters is The Blind Side. It is based on a book that I am reading right now for my composition class, it's about the life of this football player, who is a big boy in fact! In the book it just talks about him until college; however, he ends up in the NFL, and I believe the movie has a bit about that. But anyways thank you for reading, have a good weekend.

Dodgeball has begun!
Hey so, our team had our first dodgeball game of the season; we played best of 5, and we won the first three games. It went pretty quick, so they have changed the rules now so that it's best of 7 games, so that's sweet. Our next game is Tuesday, against the Recess Renegades. So that game should be interesting, because they are an older team. Hopefully we do well, I believe we will.
On Saturday and Friday, I went and visited Orono with my brother Brian, so that was fun. Though Saturday I missed an ice skate at Sukee Arena, it was free for Thomas College students. I had wanted to attend, because I have never been ice skating before. Though it was probably better that I didn't go, it most likely would have been quite the show. Also, on Saturday, Rick Barry an NBA Hall of Fame member, came to Thomas. He had a clinic here and then attended the alumni basketball games giving autographs, and between the girls and boys game, he was named a honorary member of the Thomas College basketball program so that was pretty cool.
On Wednesday there is a special event that I am going to attend: The Last Lecture with Professor Dog Wallace. It is based on the book: The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. Dog will have about 45 minutes give a "last lecture" I am very interested in hearing what Dog will have to say. Dog teaches English here and is a teacher of mine. He is a amazing teacher, as I have learned so much from him already. Also, he is something else, just quite the character. But thanks for reading.

Halloween
Well Hello again, Halloween is upon us, and I'm pretty excited. I haven't dressed up for Halloween in forever (probable like 3rd grade) but this year I am! I am planning on dressing up as Happy Gilmore, so that's going to be awesome; I am going to wear a Bruins jersey, boots, and sweat pants. Also, either I'll walk around with a golf club or get a hockey stick and act like it's my putter. It's gonna be sweet.
So about my flag football team, we ended up losing in the semi-finals to the Latin Kings. It was a close game, and it ended up coming down to the last play; we lost by one. Though we lost it was a good season for us, and especially since we were all just Freshmen. Next year however, watch out! The championship was held on Wednesday as the Latin Kings played SBR, and SBR won the game. So the next intramural are Volleyball, Dodgeball, and doubles Ping-Pong. I wanted to play Volleyball but I didn't know anyone that was; however, I was approached about playing Dodgeball, so I am going to do that. We are an all freshman team called Blackout, and I believe we are gonna be pretty darn good. Our first game is going to be on Tuesday.
Also, on Wednesday, the Boys Soccer team had a playoff game. It was at home since they were the 3rd seed. It was a heart breaking loss, as they lost in the second round of penalty kicks. It was a great game but I tough way to end the season. It was a great season for the Thomas team though, as they played way above expectations. Overall it was a successful season for them, and it was awesome to see the team host a playoff game. But am out, thanks for reading.

Game Day
So we have our semi-final game today for flag football, it should be a really good game. They have been recently playing this zone which has been working, but we believe we can beat it; however, if it's successful against us we have some plays that we are keeping in our back pockets that should take them out of the zone. We are pretty confident about the game.
This weekend I was really excited because my best friend from high school, Ben Russell was playing for Maine Maritime Academy soccer team against Thomas here. Unfortunately, it rained throughout the game; thus, making the field conditions awful. The rain didn't stop the fans as the Thomas team had much support. After standing through the whole game it stunk it ended in a tie: 1-1. It was good to see Ben though, and after the game him, his family, and myself went to my favorite place to eat: Big G's. But anyways thank you for reading.

Alcohol Awareness Week
It is Alcohol Awareness Week so there has been many activities around campus. Such as Tuesday night there was a session that I attended: Beer or Liquor Which Makes You Sicker? A cop came in and talked about consequences of drinking such as fines, personal experiences, and answered any questions we had. Than a nurse from the local hospital talked about what happens to people that come in for alcohol poisoning. WOW, quite disturbing about all the tubes that go into you during that process and what not, oh my.
So each year over 1400 college students die from alcohol and alcohol-related causes. In remembrance of those whose lives have been cut short by alcohol a psychology class and loads of people that helped, set and lit 1400 luminaries in a project called Extinguished Lives. Also they set up the candles to spell the letters TC. I thought it was really cool and a good idea. It looked really good but it was also saddening to think that each of those candles represented someone who died so young.
Other than that, we had our first playoff game in flag football Monday, and we won so that was sweet. There was a cool play where they had just scored so we got the ball with 2 seconds left in the half. So Zack threw the ball deep to Ryan who caught it and ran to the side, and I yelled to him to pitch it back, he did and I was able to run into the end zone for the score-which gave us a touchdown lead. It was a pretty sick play. Than Wednesday there was a 3 on 3 tournament, and actually we (Tyler and Colin) won the tournament. We were nasty and even beat this team in the championship that had a 6'5" and a 6'6" kid. I was pretty pumped we won the tournament since we were just a freshmen team. -But Thanks for reading

Short Week
It was really nice to have only three days of classes this week; however, it seemed like the work load was the same, having a mid-term first day back and other school stuff. Though the mid-term went well, so that was good. Also I only have a little bit of homework to due this weekend so that's nice. Maybe I'll do it tonight but probable more likely Sunday night.
Other than that our flag football team finished up the regular season with a win, finishing in second place. So playoffs start next week for us, as we are playing the Little Giants- they came in fifth. We should take care of business but you never know. So I just saw in my email that there is a 3 on 3 basketball tourney on Wednesday in the field house, that will be fun; probably have my buddy Tyler on the team, and find a big man to rebound. Additionally in my email I saw the upcoming intramurals: doubles Ping-Pong, Volleyball, and Dodge Ball. I'm thinking either volleyball or dodgeball, I probable end up doing Volleyball, cause its awesome and I'm pretty tall so I can spike it pretty good. But anyways thanks for reading!

The Weekend

Well Hellooo-I am just getting ready for the weekend, it is finally here. It's a long weekend for us; we have Monday and Tuesday off! So I'm headed home, just packing my dirty laundry. I can't wait to go home to see my girlfriend Chelsea and my family. Also to see my friends in school and some that are returning from college for the weekend. Additionally am ready to go home after having a test and a quiz today. The test I believe went really well, lets hope.
So our flag football team is doing wonderful as we beat the 1st place team The Latin Kings, by like 4-5 touchdowns. Much credit goes to Zack Farrington, my buddy/roommate and our quarterback, he played a great game. Now we our in second place behind SBR; they beat us the first game of the season by a touchdown. I'm excited for the playoffs it's two weeks away, our team is just trying to keep improving. Speaking of the playoffs, the Red Sox began last night against the Angels; however, they lost unfortunately. As I said to the Angels fan that was giving me a hard time; congrats the Angels aren't going to get swept this year by the Sox, it is a successful season :). So yea I am a 'die hard' Sox fan. Thanks for reading.

Introduction
So let me start off by introducing myself— my name is Sean Simpson, and I am a freshman this year at Thomas Collage. I am from Farmington, Maine and I went to Mt. Blue High School. My major is Sports Management, and I am living on campus in the Grant Park Heath (GPH) dorms, where mostly all freshmen live and it has been a lot of fun! I’ve been able to get to know so many people already because it’s a small school which has helped.
In High School I played basketball, soccer, and baseball; however, I plan on just focusing on school and doing a lot of activities on campus. Right now, I am playing flag football and it has been awesome. Other intramurals going on are besides flag football are softball and badminton. Also there are so many activities on campus, and if you are interested in something else, it wouldn’t be a problem to start a new club. Everybody here is really friendly and willing to help you. That has been the biggest thing here I noticed being at a small school; how teachers will sit down with you and talk whenever you need help, or even just a person to talk to for advice. I have really enjoyed my time here, and I know this is going to be an amazing 4 years!
